Meexa Does Tacover Festival 2026

Meexa Does Tacover Festival 2026

By Dan.

When the Tacover Taco and Tequila Festival called asking if we'd bring Meexa Micheladas to 10,000 thirsty taco fans, we didn't ask questions. We just asked: "What time?"

Three scorching August days later, we'd collectively consumed our body weight in tacos, met hundreds of genuinely lovely people, poured a lot of samples and shared our story.

The Hits

The joy of first-timers discovering Michelada magic.

Homesick regulars comparing notes on their favourite Micheladas.

But here's the thing: handing a Mexican a Michelada can be a little nerve-wracking. You want their approval, their acceptance, most of all you want them to love it for what it is: our interpretation of a drink we love.

Tacos in the UK have adapted to our ingredients, 5,000 miles from their origin. Same with Meexa. We use British beer, which makes up 80% of the drink, so it will always taste somewhat British.

And that's okay.

Trading Meexa with Taco Bros for their pork carnitas was genuinely one of the highlights. Not just because of the camaraderie, but because there was a symbiosis between our products. Their slow-cooked, rich and crispy pork with salsa on a fresh corn tortilla felt like the partner Meexa was created for.

Pure harmony.

Mexican food culture in the UK isn't just growing. It's thriving.

The Misses

Sampling so many Meexas we ran out of recyclable cups (hat tip to the team at Tajín UK who saved our bacon).

Not bringing enough SPF 30.

Eating tacos is a lot like parenting: there's no point wearing white. The salsas and sauces find their way to your box-fresh crisp T, your shoes, your trousers. Napkins and wet wipes are essentially useless.

The Thank Yous

Massive props to the team at Taco Bros for keeping us fed (and sane), Mexgrocer for putting Meexa on the bar menu (and for much else besides), the incomparable Arleta, and everyone who shared their Michelada stories: the funny, the nostalgic, and the frankly unprintable.

And last, but absolutely not least, Eduardo and Oliver from The Tacover, who pulled the whole thing together.

The support and encouragement we received was off the charts - here's a special Thank You message from Dan, one of Meexa's founders.

We're already plotting our return for 2027.

Probably after a nap.
